Let Your Steps Follow Your Breath, Not The Other Way Around

Let Your Steps Follow Your Breath, Not The Other Way Around

Growing up I was fortunate enough to spend summers at the beach. I spent my days watching endless hours unfold around me in no particular direction. As a child I allowed space for MINDFULNESS without struggling.....now as an adult I need to remind myself during my busy days to Stop, Pause and Connect to Breath moving forward in the direction it leads me. Allowing my days to unfold from the inside out has brought magic, mystery and much joy to my soul.

I wish the same for each of you. :)

Lets Talk Karma!

Lets Talk Karma!

By now you've heard the saying "Your vibe attracts your tribe!" You may be wondering...well ya...but what does Karma have to do with it?

The way I was taught and the way I teach others about Karma isn't based on an old fashioned wives' tale point of view. From that perspective you're screwed if you misbehaved in a past life and doomed to come back as a warted toad if you've been an ass in this current life. Lets be honest people that scenario is pretty darn depressing! Why bother getting out of bed at all? We've all acted less than stellar on occasion so...where's the hope there?

But Wait! Theres more to it! Karma refers to  the law of cause and effect. It means that what we do and how we act create our future experiences. If we are angry at a lot of people, we start to live in a climate of hate. People will be angry with us. This law of cause and effect depends on our intentions behind our actions. If we cultivate a climate of calm, understanding, thoughtfulness and acceptance that is what will be available to us in turn.

Karma is about acting and living in a way NOW that enables the Universe and its inhabitants to energetically reflect those actions back to you.

Ask yourself, what do I want my life to look like? Then start acting as if it already does...because it will!

Reading Suggestion

Whether you are a complete newbie to this mindfulness stuff or as comfortable with it as if its like putting on an old worn comfy sweater....this book is sure to inspire and delight you!

Honestly, I think I have read it 5 times! I love how the author has intertwined the ancient concepts of Buddhism through a current new age story from the point of view of your average middle aged  westernized american brother, his metaphysically minded sister and her side kick a self declared  eastern taught guru. I have received so much information from this book all served up in a warm, funny, meaningful and thought provoking style that hits right to the core.

Get ready to see yourself in the characters and laugh out loud while doing so!

ENJOY!

Gratitude

Many books on mindfulness encourage you to keep a Gratitude Journal. This is a wonderful tool to remind yourself that there is always positivity in your life and things to feel good about but sometimes you just don't have time to jot it all down! For me, I like to start and end my day by whispering a thanks of gratitude. I have made this a ritual that I practice as soon as I open my eyes in the morning and the last thing I do before I close my eyes at night. It has proven to be a VERY powerful tool in helping me stay positive. Give it a try...but keep it simple and have fun with it!
